Emergency physicians, fellows and diplomates of the College gathered last April 13-15 at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila to celebrate another successful year of Emergency Medicine in the Philippines. Outgoing President, Dr. Eligio Maghirang welcomed the delegates before introducing Honorable Congresswoman Leah S. Paquiz, RN, Founding President and Partylist representative of ANG NARS who opened the convention as keynote speaker.

Paquiz, RN, Founding President and Partylist representative of ANG NARS who opened the convention as keynote speaker. The opening of the poster exhibits by emergency medicine residents followed.
The scientific program commenced with Dr. Paul Fraley, the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) International Ambassador to the Philippines talking about the past, present and future challenges in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The invited foreign speakers also included Dr. Lim Swee Han, the Secretary-General of the Asian Society of Emergency Medicine (ASEM) and Dr. Adi Osman, the President of WINFOCUS Malaysia. The scientific program will not be complete without the complement of excellent Filipino speakers including Dr. Gabriel Gabriel, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Makati Medical Center, Dr. Arthur Dessi Roman, Vice-President, Philippine Hospital Infection Control Society and Dr. Alfonso G. Nunez, Head of Hospital Training and Research Office, East Avenue Medical Center.
The second day of the convention featured track sessions on emergency medicine, EMS and Disaster Medicine and quality management. Five simultaneous workshop sessions were conducted for emergency medicine practitioners, emergency care nurses, emergency medicine technicians and medical students.
